Fleabag announces Australian tour 2018

Tue 24 October 2017

As part of Soho Theatre’s commitment to take the best work from its stages to the widest possible audience, Fleabag, the multi-award winning production from Soho Theatre associate company DryWrite, heads off on tour of Australia, performed by Maddie Rice.

Turned into television’s must-see hit of summer 2016, Fleabag began as a one woman show written and performed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge and directed by Verity Bargate Award winning Vicky Jones, DryWrite’s co-Artistic Directors. First previewing at Soho Theatre, following a successful sketch night of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s early work, Fleabag made its highly acclaimed Edinburgh Festival Fringe premiere in 2013. Two sold out Soho Theatre runs in 2013 and 2014 followed before a national tour performed by Maddie Rice in 2015. In December last year the original multi-award winning production returned home to Soho Theatre to standing ovations and 5-star critical acclaim, the entire run selling out within ten minutes of going on sale. It then went on to sell every available ticket at the 2017 Edinburgh Festival Fringe

In Fleabag the rules are out the window and she’s getting confused. She’s angry, pervy, confrontational, cruel, forgetful, flippant, capricious, but undeniably honest. On the stage over 60 minutes, Fleabag lets us see the world through her eyes as we follow her life, love, loss and heartbreak. This is comedy storytelling at its very best with all the unspoken nitty-gritty of real life. This is the portrait of a girl who isn’t afraid to admit what she thinks is wrong with herself.

Previews for the Australian tour will take place at Soho Theatre Upstairs Mon 8 Jan to Wed 10 Jan 2018
